10 Things That Make a Great Road Trip-The Journey Itself Pt.1

As the first entry in the “10 Things That Make a Great Road Trip” blog post, how can we glance over the most common saying about adventures?

It’s not the destination, it’s the journey.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

I hate to be anti-climatic but it is probably one of the biggest truth I’ve observed throughout my time on this Earth. I think people tend to plan trips with destinations and map out key things that they want to see. However, looking back at this trip, it was the journey that made it so special.

All the little moments-the laughs, hanging out, jamming out to music, the gruelling drive, the slow mornings, and the long hikes make me reminisce this trip.

Just on our first day we drove from Markham, Ontario to Moncton, New Brunswick. We did it in just under a day, and that drive alone was 1,525km!

Our end destination was Cape Spear in Newfoundland, because I wanted to be in the most Eastern Point in North America. That journey alone took us 3100km away from home, requiring a ferry ride with the car!

And this doesn’t even include our day trips and detours!

Along the way we saw some beautiful things, most of which caught us by surprise! From animals, various weather conditions, mountains, the ocean, lakes, to man made structures. We saw a lot of East Coast Canada just in the car, but compared to travelling by air, it was amazing to feel the scale of mountains and bodies of water driving right along them.

Anyways, here are some snaps that try to capture that element of “journey” and “adventure”.

I’ll continue posting these as I finish writing them, hope you enjoyed it!
