10 Things That Make a Great Road Trip-The Great Laughs Pt.2
I think there are two emotional states that make a trip memorable-laughter and pain.
Everything in between those two spectrums is somewhat of a harder thing to appreciate and especially to photograph-the “peace" if you want to call it that. I’ll cover pain in more detail in a later post, but it’s happy sibling “laughter” is this short burst of joy that makes me feel glad to be alive.
To be honest, I can’t even recall what the heck we were laughing about in half these pictures, but I don’t think that really matters. What matters is recalling how you felt during the trip, and laughter was such a tremendous part of the journey.
I think photographs of people laughing is such a wonderful thing. Smiling can be such a formality sometimes, but I think laughter is a genuine emotion that’s hard to fake. When someone isn’t having a good time, a fake laugh is easily detectable because it is so inorganic. Which makes photographs of people laughing so beautiful to me. In the adult world I find myself having to uphold this guard to protect myself, but when people laugh, I think for a small little moment in our uptight lives, we get to be free from these shackles. A photo of someone laughing is a glimpse into their true selves, and I find myself constantly seeking to capture these moments.
Grabbing a Mid-Day Coffee and just having a great time~
It’s so pure.
When we are genuinely being our true self, I think there's something universally beautiful about that. Here are some portraits of my friends and I having a blast!
They are so wonderful, these guys.
Even though I’m not pictured, I was laughing right along with them…behind the camera.
